Dermal Filler Dissolving Treatment

What is Dermal Filler Dissolving Treatment?

If you are unhappy with your results, you don’t have to wait for the filler to dissolve on its own. If you received a hyaluronic acid (HA) filler, it can be easily dissolved using hyaluronidase (Hyalase). Hyaluronidase is a synthetic form of a natural enzyme that has been used for nearly 20 years to dissolve fillers in the lips, cheeks, under the eyes, and other areas.

Candidates

Dissolving treatment only works for HA fillers so as long as this is the type of filler you hope to remove, you are likely a good candidate. A patch test can be given before the dissolver is administered to make sure you are not allergic to hyaluronidase.

Dermal Filler Dissolving Treatment

Before treatment, Olga will ask you whether you want the filler removed or simply altered. A diluted injection of hyaluronidase can be administered to reduce the volumizing effect of dermal filler, but not completely get rid of the augmentation. The injection will be administered into a few different parts of the lip, or other treated areas, as close to the HA as possible.

Results

Hyaluronidase immediately begins to dissolve HA after injection, and it will continue to degrade over a few days. Most people notice results a few days after treatment, but different HA brands may degrade differently and the natural differentiation in body chemistry may alter recovery time. The treated area might appear fuller than ever at first, due to swelling and the dissolving fluid, but as the HA degrades, the volume will decrease. Once your dermal filler is dissolved, this is a permanent solution unless you later choose to redo your dermal filler.
