Bellafill
What is Bellafill?
Bellafill is an FDA-approved dermal filler that rejuvenates the skin by filling in deep wrinkles and folds and moderate to severe acne scars. The two main ingredients are collagen and polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) microbeads. Collagen is one of two proteins naturally found in the skin that gives it elasticity and volume. The collagen from a Bellafill injection will be absorbed into the body while the PMMA beads stay in place for support.
What Areas Can Bellafill Treat?
Bellafill is commonly used to fill nasolabial folds (lines extending from the corners of the mouth to the bottom of the nose), correct nose bumps, augment and contour the cheeks and chin. It also improves the appearance of certain types of acne scars on the cheeks and can improve the appearance of sagging earlobes.
Candidates
Most patients are a candidate for this skin rejuvenation injectable, as long as they are in good health with no blood-related medical conditions or conditions that cause irregular scarring. You may also need to take a patch test to ensure you are not allergic to bovine collagen since Bellafill uses a combination of natural and synthetic ingredients.
Bellafill Treatment
Depending on the area(s) being treated, Bellafill injections can take anywhere from 15-60 minutes to administer. Injections can be given in multiple spots during one treatment. For optimal results, Olga may recommend a second treatment about 6 weeks after. The Bellafill formula contains a small amount of lidocaine to numb the area after injection, but a topical anesthetic can also be applied if you are nervous about the needle. Mild swelling, bruising, and tenderness around the injection site are common symptoms after a Bellafill treatment, but this will resolve within a week.
Results
After your injections are administered, you will immediately see smoother skin with a more even tone. These results can last up to 5 years when treating lines and wrinkles or 1 year when treating acne scars.
