What is Juvéderm?
Juvéderm is one of the most popular dermal fillers because the brand offers a range of products used to treat different areas of the face for different aesthetic purposes. The hyaluronic acid (HA) formula used in Juvéderm hydrates the skin and stimulates collagen production to plump the skin and restore a glowing, youthful appearance. Another ingredient in Juvéderm is lidocaine, which creates a numbing effect to ease discomfort during your injections.
What Areas Can Juvéderm Treat?
- Juvéderm Voluma: injected deep into the skin of the cheeks to correct volume loss; also used to augment the chin
- Juvéderm Vollure: injected into the facial tissue to treat wrinkles and folds such as nasolabial folds, the folds extended from the bottom of the nose to the edges of the mouth
- Juvéderm Ultra: used to treat nasolabial folds or augment the lips and smooth perioral lines which are small wrinkles around the mouth
- Juvéderm Volbella XC: used to augment the lips and correct perioral lines; can be injected under the eyes to improve undereye hollows and dark circles.
Candidates
If you are hoping to treat signs of aging, achieve fuller lips, or redefine your cheeks or chin, you may be a great candidate for Juvéderm. You may not be a candidate if you are allergic to HA or lidocaine since these are two of the main ingredients in these dermal fillers.
Juvéderm Treatment
Before your dermal filler injections, Olga will discuss your cosmetic goals with you to determine the best filler. Depending on the area(s) being treated, Juvéderm treatment can take anywhere from 15-60 minutes. Most people find this to be a relatively painless treatment, especially with the added ingredient of lidocaine in the Juvéderm formula.
The recovery time is minimal, but you should avoid exercise, sun exposure, and alcohol consumption for at least 24 hours after your treatment since the treated areas may be slightly swollen, bruised, and tender. This swelling will reduce within 2-4 weeks.
Results
You will see the effects of your Juvéderm treatment within 2 weeks; some people even notice results right away. Your beautiful results will last anywhere from 6 months to 2 years, depending on which Juvéderm filler was used and how well you maintain your skin following treatment.
